I DID IT!!
I graduated college after 7 years, 2 different schools, 3 states, 1.5 years off & deciding to pick school over an Australian visa in 2015!!! I have no regrets & can not believe this day has come!!!!
This was an unbelievable weekend. As I mentioned in my last post, I had many people from the east coast come out for ME! The left is my dad’s side & the right my ma’s.
The whole cheeeeeering squad 😛
It was a very special day with tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of letting go, tears of support and most of tears of love!!! The university was able to give free tassels out with the color purple in honor of Savannah McNealy. She was suppose to graduate and the president of CSU, Tony Frank, had such great inspiring words for us and that touched Savannah.
It was a great day after that — I was able to have my graduation celebration at the Mishawaka Amphitheater, where I work in the summers!! It was the perfect place for my family to get a taste of the colorful Colorado & to see where I spend my nights in the summer. It was allllllll so fun, beautiful, low key & filled with love ❤ ❤ ❤
Prior to Saturday December 16th of Graduation… I was able to show my cousins, Aunt, Babci & Ma around the FOCO — Fort Collins 😉
Of course I started in Old Town, showing them the salon with my art, going shopping at all the boutiques, and then my new favorite spot, The Downtown Artery!!!
It has the COOLEST room where you don’t know where the walls end and the floors start, it is sooOOOooo fun! And since no one was there, we decided to do what we we do best…
TAKE PICTURES 😛
They had a great time, I had a great time showing them my stomping grounds!!
As this year comes to an end, a lot has happened in 2017 for me that makes me so excited for what 2018 has to offer!!! I have my art in two places – hopefully can make that more places in 2018, keep making art, lost of art!!!… get a studio space maybe, & my art show in April!
I am looking at 2018 as acceptance… acceptance that I am an emerging artist, accept that I am a great artist, accept that I am always covered and never alone, accept all I have accomplished & keep moving forward. This trip I’ll be on in two weeks will give me a chance to reflect on what I want to work on in 2018 🙂
As for travel in 2018……. . … . . .. . …… …. . I am leaving January 1st for a two week Ecuador trip with CSU as to finish my business capstone and complete my business management minor! I also will be traveling to Mexico with my mom for a Goddess retreat which I can not wait to see how I grow from that. Arizona again with Benjamin and his family. Then I am in two weddings so, Charleston, SC for a bachelorette & then a wedding in Pittsburg and the second in Maryland on the river. And hopefully my California rooftop tent trip this October/November!! So much in store 😉
For my “final class” as a CSU student, we have to write 10 blogs post on our experience in Ecaudor & participate in everything we do as well. This trip will be an adventure trip, no time for relaxation!! Which I am okay about – I want to see and do as much as possible! I feel as if two weeks will go by fast.
I leave tomorrow and there is not a single nervous bone in my body, I am just so overwhelmed with excitement and to be emerged in a new culture. I haven’t been out of the country since Cyprus, Rome & Crete in summer 2014. I have been looking forward to this trip and it is finally here!! Maybe it hasn’t hit me yet ha 😛
I am in the mist of packing and to practice, I tried not to over pack when I went home for Christmas but I still did!!! There were about two pants and 3 shirts I didn’t even touch. I am definitely going to pack light as I want to get lots of gifts and trinkets. Time will tell if I do!!! Looks like lots of rain but heavy humidity, I’ll pack layers that can go with all the outfits but I am worried about shoes.. I got new hiking boots for Christmas but haven’t warn them yet, not sure if that is a good idea to bring….
I think the most shocking thing when I first get there will be the language and how different the cities and lifestyle are from the US. How they have big markets and animals everywhere – OH – and not being able to drink the water is going to be difficult and different. I love drinking water and I am used to just using the faucet. Fingers crossed I remember 😛
We are going to the Andes which I think will be my favorite part, seeing the volcanos and the lush green everywhere since it is so humid!! Also meeting the main artist of the Tigua Painters in the Andes which will be so inspiring for me.
My goal is to sketch at least once a day or MORE, even if it is the littlest doodle. I want to start up my practice again and maybe I can bring some real inspiration back with me. I have a cute sketchbook I got for this trip and I thought about bring pastels or watercolors, although I don’t know if I will have time to do that ha!
